Aesthetics

At The New U Clinic, we use Botox to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face. Over time, the signs of aging will inevitably begin to show on the face and other parts of the body. Thus, medical professionals have developed many innovative, non-surgical, anti-aging treatments.

What is Botox?

Botox is the oldest and most popular neuromodulator on the market. First used in 1977, this neuromodulator was originally used to treat issues with eye muscles. As it became more popular, doctors discovered more and more uses for this non-surgical injectable. By injecting Botox into targeted areas, it blocks nerve signals to the muscles, preventing them from contracting. This allows it to temporarily erase fine lines and wrinkles from the face.

How long does the procedure take?

The actual procedure is fairly quick, which is an appealing feature of Botox. Not only is it a non-surgical cosmetic treatment, the procedure itself is so fast that you can be in and out in a matter of minutes.

What can Botox treat?

Neuromodulators can treat:

  • frown lines
  • wrinkles
  • crow’s feet
  • the glabella (lines between the eyebrows)

What does the actual procedure consist of?

The procedure is fairly simple. Dr. Ute Bucksteg will go over areas of concern and determine appropriate injection sites. From there, Dr. Bucksteg will inject the neuromodulator into targeted areas. The number of injections vary, depending upon the patient and the area being treated.

How long does it take to see results?

Timelines for signs of results vary from patient to patient. However, most results begin to show up in a matter of days. Botox injections generally last a few months before needing another round of treatment. It is important to note that neuromodulators cannot treat wrinkles caused by sun damage.

Are there any side effects?

The sides effects of Botox injections are minimal. The most common side effects reported include:

  • numbness
  • redness
  • nausea
  • rashes
  • swelling

At The New U Clinic in Nanaimo, we use dermal fillers to rejuvenate the face and whisk away the wrinkles that have formed over the years. As we age, our skin begins to sag and lose its hydration and elasticity. While people age at their own pace, due to genetics and lifestyle factors, the signs of aging while inevitably show.

What are fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable products that give different areas of the face a fuller, more youthful appearance. Different fillers perform better on different areas of the face and neck. Dr. Ute Bucksteg will formulate a custom treatment plan to address your own aesthetic goals.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance within the human body. Primarily found within the eyes and joints, hyaluronic is responsible for lubricating and hydrating these parts of the body. Since fillers, like Juvederm, are made mostly of hyaluronic acid, this makes them incredibly safe and the risk of side effects is extremely low.

What is Juvederm?

The Juvederm family of products is the primary dermal filler used at The New U Clinic. Composed primarily of hyaluronic acid, these fillers are a safe, non-surgical, cosmetic anti-aging treatment.

  • forehead lines
